SHELDON WILLIAMS, Staff Reporter An explosion at the Paul Bogle High School in St Thomas, last Thursday, created a brief scare after rumours circulated that a home-made bomb had been detonated on the compound during school hours. A source, who asked not to be named, told our news team that he understands that the explosion emanated from an experiment gone wrong after a few curious boys tried to mimic a procedure conducted in class. "It is something they were doing inside science class. They might have done something in class, and some boys carried the idea outside of class," the source said. Deputy Superintendent Charmaine Shand of The St Thomas police confirmed that the police were alerted to an explosion at the institution but said nothing was recovered. "The police received calls about an explosion but nothing was found," she remarked. She also said that no one was taken into custody but promised to provide further details as soon as it becomes available.
