PLAY delivered as promised |

The recently concluded PLAY event certainly delivered what was promised - endless energy from beginning to end. PLAYmates came out in their numbers at Club Overtime and certainly left the venue on a musical high. Powered by music from the likes of ZJ Chrome, Coppershot and ZJ Ice, patrons were taken on a musical voyage as they travelled through a variety of genres including hip hop, R&B and dancehall. When THE WEEKEND STAR entered the venue, patrons were already pumped with energy to songs such as Clean, by Mavado, and Erup's Gal a Run Dem Head before moving into more uptempo dancehall songs specifically for the ladies. As the night progressed, the bars were in full swing and alcohol-induced patrons held nothing back, singing and dancing to songs such as Bus A Blank by I Octane, Gallis by Specialist and Vybz Kartel's Get Gal Easy. With free lollipops, mini cup cakes, and two-for-one play mixes, and good musical selections, the hype of the party was maintained. Coppershot was up next, and DJ Ash switched the genre to old-school hip hop and rap vibe. The switch of genre was welcomed with forwards for Jay Z's 99 Problems, Up In Here by DMX and Busta Rhymes' Jump Jump. ZJ Ice took to the turntables in the wee hours of the morning to deliver a musical onslaught. It was only more of the same for the remainder of the night as the event continued to provide great entertainment to patrons, who seemed to be enjoying every minute of it. According to promoter Ramaar Allen, a great deal of effort went into preparation for the event. "We're very pleased about our first staging of PLAY. We're grateful for the patrons that came out and the sponsors that came on board and believed in us on this our first venture. We are looking to make the next staging of PLAY bigger and even better." |
