The first in a series of Road Show/Fun Day showcasing the selectees in the March 23 audition of the Tastee Talent Contest unfolded on Saturday, April 27, at the Tastee Drive Thru at the Portmore Mall.

Introduced last year, the road shows are to showcase persons who received Lifeline Cards at each audition and, as such, there will be four road shows this year following each audition.

The second of which takes place on Saturday, June 15, at The Turtle River Park, Ocho Rios, following the second audition which will be staged on Saturday, May 18 at the Tastee Car Park, Cross Roads.

Following a motorcade which made stops at Tastee outlets in St Catherine namely Angels, Spanish Town and Portmore Pines, the day culminated with a concert and fun day at the Tastee outlet at the Portmore Mall. Children were treated to bounce-a-bout, cotton candy, popcorn and face painting.

The 15 contestants who received Lifeline Cards at the first audition performed their entry song after which seven persons were eliminated leaving eight to go on to the next round in this year's contest which is sponsored by Tastee, Pepsi, T-shirt Express, Sparkles and Kosmo and will have its Grand Finals on Thursday, December 12 at the Tastee Car Park, Cross Roads.

The contestants who were vying for the first prize of $1million cash, $500,000 second place and $150,000 for third place performed on tracks before a fair-sized crowd. Nine singers four singjays and two DJs displayed their talent hoping to be among the lucky ones making it forward to the next round of the competition.

MC Elva announced that the contestants would be informed of the elimination process following adjudication by the production team.

Following this exercise, the lucky ones making it through are; Barrington Allen singjay, Shantee Ffrench singjay, Ricardo Smith singer, Maurice Oliver D. J., Oneil Allen singer, Kelisha Simmonds singer, Adrian Currie singer, Renee Sutherland singer.

They will now enter into the band rehearsal and grooming sessions prior to the semi-finals slated for later this year.
