JCA says sorry to Walsh |
|||||
( l - r ) Walsh, Wright The Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) has apologised to former Jamaica and West Indies captain Courtney Walsh for an incident which took place at Sabina Park on Friday, April 26. Walsh was refused entry into a section of the venue during the Jamaica versus Combined Campuses and Colleges four-day match. "This incident no doubt has caused Walsh a great degree of embarrassment for which we unreservedly apologise," the JCA said in a release. The JCA added in the release that upon being made aware of the incident at the security post, efforts were made by the JCA executive to resolve the matter. They said this intervention was, however, unsuccessful, as Walsh had already left Sabina Park. President Lyndel Wright, who was off the island at the time, extended apologies to Walsh last Saturday as soon as he became aware of the issue. The release added: "This situation is unfortunate, and the JCA accepts that. We offer the assurance to all that we are taking the opportunity to review our operational procedures, especially as it relates to how we receive our icons. Ambassador Walsh is always welcome to Sabina Park as we take the necessary steps to continue our long and amicable relationship with this great Jamaican." |
