|||||
A widow is in shock after she provided the police with useful information which led to her husband's alleged attacker being detained, only for him to to be on the run a few days later after he reportedly escaped custody. Information reaching THE WEEKEND STAR is that an alleged suspect who had been eluding the police for almost a year, since he allegedly carryied out the attack on the now deceased, 37-year-old Roger Robinson, had been admitted to the Kingston Public Hospital, receiving treatment for gunshot wounds. THE WEEKEND STAR understands that Robinson's widow, who resides overseas, got word of her husbands attackers' whereabouts and quickly informed the local authorities probing the matter, who seemed to have been having difficulties apprehending the suspect. The widow told THE WEEKEND STAR, "The police didn't even know where he was. When I called and told them he was in the hospital, they asked me if I was sure. He was admitted there for two weeks prior to me informing them. The policeman called to say he would let me know after he went and checked himself. "The next time I heard from the police, they told me, yes, it was the suspect and they have him under police guard. A few days later, I called back the officer to check how things were proceeding only to hear him say, 'Miss, I have bad news for you, he escaped'". injured arm and legs Our news team was told she asked how could that have been possible, only to be informed that he was not handcuffed to the bed because he was injured in his arm and legs. THE WEEKEND STAR gathered that the suspect was allegedly shot in an unrelated incident while in hiding from the police, and was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was admitted. The woman, who admitted that her husband was schizophrenic, refuted reports that he was killed for stealing a boat, adding that he was deported from the US and was living in Rae Town, Kingston, and was beaten and left for dead at sea by men known to him. When contacted, the investigating officer from the Elletson Road CIB was more interested in how we got the information. "who told you that ,sir?" "No comment, that's all mi can say right now ... no comment,". A senior officer was also contacted to shed light on the matter. "I am not aware but what I will do is consult with the investigating officer, then I'll be better able to speak on it," he said. When THE WEEKEND STAR visited his office the following week for an update, the senior cop stated, "According to my knowledge, the post-mortem report disclosed that the gentleman died as a result of drowning. The police, however, did interrogate the gentleman at the hospital, but if the report says he died as a result of drowning then what ..." THE WEEKEND STAR was simply asked to return to the station to have a look at the actual post-mortem report, which was not readily available on the first visit. On return, THE WEEKEND STAR was told that the senior cop was out conducting an emergency operation. In July 2012, THE WEEKEND STAR reported that a man of unsound mind, who was reportedly beaten and left to die at sea over a missing fishing boat, was found dead on the Rae Town Fishing Beach. The man, identified as Roger Robinson, 37, was reportedly badly beaten in his head with a paddle. The police had reported that Robinson went out to sea on a fishing boat without permission. Further reports are that two men who learned about Robinson's frolic took another boat to look for him. The police then had theorised that he was badly beaten, thrown overboard and his body resurfaced couple days later. |
