Alty-B creates buzz with 'Island Girl' |

Fast-rising dancehall singjay Alty-B has been garnering favourable attention with his latest single, 'Island Girl', featuring Richie Loop. Alty-B, whose real name is Altimon Grason, told THE weekend STAR this was his fastest-rising musical effort, and he has already shot a music video to promote the single. "First song I ever broke so quickly. By one week it got two write-ups in one paper named Vision in UK and online," he said. Alty-B said the collaboration was forged after a disc jock made contact with Richie Loop's road manager who, in turn, advised Richie Loop of Alty-B's aim to record a smashing song. we just made it happen "DJ Fella linked up Dre Jhean, Richie Loops road manager, and made it happen. I had the concept, sent it to Richie and he liked the idea and came up with the chorus, and from there we just made it happen," Alty-B remarked. "We actually didn't know each other before the single but we've grown close over the shoot. Real cool artist, full of vibes and always happy," he said of Richie Loop. Alty-B explained that the video, now being edited, was shot in the first week of April in Drewsland, Kingston 20, Hellshire beach and HQ bar and restaurant. It was directed by "Michael Burbridge aka Biggs of Big Ship and edited by Tanique Samuels aka Kim," he added. The rhythm was made by Dray Donz and produced by Smokeshop productions. Alty-B is planning the release of another single this the year. "I have a song called Can't Pay Me, featuring Delly Ranx, dropping later down in the year," he revealed. Alty-B was raised in the tough inner-city community of Drewsland, St Andrew. Enduring several hardships while living with his grandmother in Drewsland, Grason sought a potential outlet to perfect his craft. The practising singjay got his wish, leaving for Canada in 2003 and settling in the Greater Toronto Area, now residing in Scarborough, Ontario. Alty-B quickly learned the pros and cons of the music industry once settling in Canada, recording a slew of singles including a counteraction to Jamaican-American hip hop act, Sean Kingston's smash hit, Beautiful Girl in 2007. Additionally, Alty-B made his name performing in talents shows across Canada, establishing himself as an emerging presence throughout Toronto's party scene. hard work All Alty-B's hard work culminated in the release of his highly regarded dance single, Splice, in 2011, which earned this unique talent considerable rotation at sessions, clubs in Toronto, back home, acclaim from fellow industry players and his growing fan base. The dance-themed track launched Alty-B closer to mainstream success and started a trend that other entertainers such as QQ, Fambo and Voicemail soon followed by recording singles promoting the Splice dance.
