"Conceived in your womb, like a flower I bloom, how you do what you do, you are a super woman," are the opening words to OMI's latest single, 'My Old Lady'.

The words are dedicated to the singer's mother, Rachel Pasley and all mothers around the world. So come May 12, Mother's Day, the Cheerleader singer will be dedicating his talent and song to a worthy cause being organised by The Gleaner Company in association with Television Jamaica.

The cause is centred around an attempt by these organisations to engage the public in assisting three mothers who are in need of tremendous financial help.

Assistance is being sought for these persons through sponsorship from corporate Jamaica and come May 12, there will be a one-hour programme that will take place on Television Jamaica between 5 and 6 p.m., that will include video footage of the special cases and any assistance received.

Along with that footage, there will be clips showing popular figures spending time with their mothers and speaking of their influence on their lives. There will also be tributes and performances from some of Jamaica's top talents including Romain Virgo, I-Octane, Richie Stephens, Richie Spice, Ikaya and gospel star Carlene Davis

In the case of OMI, the project is a good follow-up after the release of his single. The singer was raised by his mother, who became a single parent after he lost his father, role model and musical inspiration, to emphysema when he was only nine.

"What can I say, after my father died my mother was my only inspiration. we were very close and being the wash belly (youngest) of four children, my fondest memories were with her. Her caring hands when I was sick, her patience and how she fed and clothed us with the little she had, she will always be my old lady," he said.

He said that he expects the song, which demonstrates a different side to the singer who was introduced and is still popularly known for his breakthrough, uptempo chart-topper Cheerleader, to be an inspiration to all mothers who show selfless devotion and commitment to their children.
