Customs seize illegal cigarettes |
|||||
The Jamaica Customs Department has seized eight cartons of uncustomed cigarettes valued at approximately $40,000. Customs say the contraband was seized yesterday at a Barbican premises by the Jamaica Customs Contraband Enforcement Team (CET). No arrests have been made and the matter is still under investigation. Customs say they are committed to the fight against illegal cigarettes, and they will continue to implement procedures in collaboration with other enforcement entities to prevent illicit cigarettes from entering the Jamaican marketplace. Uncustomed goods, according to the department, are goods that have not gone through the proper customs clearance procedures. |
