An arrest warrant has been issued for a Jamaican man following the seizure of more than one kilogram of cocaine at the Sir Linden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) in The Bahamas last Friday. The warrant was issued for the arrest of 33-year-old Jamaican national Conrad Campbell, after he fled the scene after the drug was seized. A former Bahamian police constable and her brother, who were held in connection with the seizure, were remanded when they appeared in court on Tuesday. According to www.tribune242.com, the axed policewoman and her brother, a pageant coach and franchise owner, found themselves before a magistrate on Tuesday charged in connection with last Friday's $64,000 cocaine seizure at the country's main port of entry. THE STAR gathered that both siblings entered a not guilty plea to the four drug charges which include, taking preparatory steps to export dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply, conspiracy to export dangerous drugs and conspiracy to possess dangerous drugs with intent to supply. On the day in question, officers, acting on information, arrested the 27-year-old former policewoman and a 33-year-old man after they were found in possession of 3.275 lb (1.69 kilograms) of cocaine at the LPIA departure lounge. Police prosecutor ASP Ercell Dorsett said Campbell was still at large and police were looking for him. The prosecutor asked that a warrant be issued for his arrest and the request was granted. Meanwhile, the siblings were reportedly given an early date for trial, October 11, before being told that they would be denied bail as the court did not have the power to grant the bond concerning the charges. |
