Double Carifta Games gold medallist Rushell Burton is anticipating winning another gold medal at this weekend's Penn Relays in Philadelphia with her teammates from St Andrew High.

Burton, who won the 100m hurdles at the ISSA Boys and Girls' Champion-ships and finished a close second to Shellece Clarke in the 100-metre sprint, before winning gold medals in the hurdles and sprint relays at the Carifta Games in The Bahamas two weeks later, wants to get a crack at another gold in Pennsylvania with her high-school teammates this time round.

"In the Carifta Games I was successful in the 100m hurdles and the 4x100m relays. I am greatly anticipating the Penn Relays," she said. "I just want to say thanks to LIME for supporting us to go to the relays and through this opportunity I am looking forward to taking home a few more gold medals."

The final year Class Three athlete says she likes her team's chances at Penn. "I think we can win if we get the start we want and if all the baton passes go well," she said. The other members of her team include Maia Edwards, Stacy-Ann Rowe, Anastasia Scott and Shanice Fletcher.

At Carifta, Burton, a favourite for the sprint hurdles gold medal, got the worst possible start in the final. However, she managed to compose herself and ran past the field to claim gold. She said the performance surprised her.

"It was very surprising. I couldn't believe it," she said. "All that was going through my mind was to come back in the top three but then I saw that I could come first, so yeah."

She is hoping the Penn Relays will be equally rewarding.
