Star Tell Me Pastor

I love him, but he is of another faith

Dear Pastor,

I always read your column and I always like your responses. I am a young, well attractive girl. The guys always go crazy over me. The thing is that I was raised in a Prophecy home and now this guy came and asked my family for my hand, but he wants to be a Seventh-day Adventist.

I am scared of being with him and I am afraid that God will punish me for leaving the Prophecy church. Please enlighten me a bit on what to do. I am asking you to pray for me because I need prayer. I am not a Christian as yet, but this month I am supposed to get baptised in the Prophecy church.

Please help me and educate me more.

S.

Dear S.,

I suggest that you make an appointment to see the pastor of the church you attend. The correct name of the organisation is the Church of God of Prophecy. Your minister would be able to give you some guidance on this troubling issue of interdenominational relationships.

Some couples have married folks from other denominations and they get along just fine, while others have lived in hell, so to speak. They are always arguing over doctrinal matters. Sometimes while courting, a spouse may say that they can get married and each person can go wherever he/she wants to go and worship, but after the marriage one may insist that everybody should go to the same church.

There are times when the children are affected because mommy wants them to go with her to church while daddy wants them to go with him. Therefore, I repeat, ask your pastor to give you some guidance.

Pastor
