Andrew Matthews was offered bail in the sum of $150,000 with surety after he was charged with murder when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Monday.

The court was told that on February 13 about 11:15 a.m., Matthews and the now deceased were engaged in an argument over a bicycle, which escalated into a fight and it is alleged that the now deceased was stabbed and his throat slashed.

He reportedly died at the Kingston Public Hospital.

The court also heard that shortly after the incident, it is alleged that Matthews left the area.

He was later placed in police custody after being approached by police officers at Up Park Camp at the Jamaica Defence Force to which he was employed.

Matthews is to return to court for mention on May 28 and is to report to the Denham Town Police Station on Mondays and Thursdays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
