FEMALE PROMOTER GANGED, BEATEN

An annual awards show held recently in Portmore to reward promoters and supporters alike entered a bad patch for a brief moment, after a promoter/university student was attacked and beaten, THE STAR understands.

Information reaching THE STAR is that the assaulted promoter, who is also a second-year UWI student, was attacked by a group of girls, some of whom are said to be promoters themselves and assaulted.

The incident reportedly did not cause an abrupt end to the well-attended event, which was held near Naggo Head, Portmore.

Our news team could not ascertain a motive for the attack. However, an alleged eyewitness told THE STAR that the university student had to take off her high heels and run for her life.

She said, "I was upstairs and I saw the commotion, when mi look the only thing mi see the UWI girl a run and crowd a run behind her. I don't know why she always a get ina dem deh trouble deh. I don't know what dem a war for. She a mussi beating stick cause dem always after her."

The eyewitness also told THE STAR that the incident was short-lived and that the promoter had to intervene and have a word with the girls.

When our news team contacted the promoter of the event, Tallman, he told THE STAR that he was not aware of the incident.

He said, "I am not aware of a fight. I heard something like dat but I am not sure. I don't go off hearsay."

When THE STAR contacted the St Catherine South police, they informed us they had no knowledge of the attack, as there were no reports of the incident in the books.
