After a disappointing ISSA Boys and Girls' Championships, where they failed to win back-to-back titles, the Michael Dyke-coached Edwin Allen were in great form at the UTech Track and Field Classics last Saturday.

The team won several individual events and looked good in relay events, as they look forward to next week's Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The quartet of Renae Ricketts, Saqukine Cameron, Monique Spencer and Claudette Allen were in spanking form in the high school girls Under-20 4x100 metres relays. They sent out a strong message to their rivals in the event, stopping the clock at 44.85 seconds, in the process becoming the first schoolgirl team to go under 45 seconds this season. Holmwood Technical were second in 45.09 seconds.

Dyke was very pleased with his team's fast time.

"The girls are ready for the Penn Relays and I am very happy that they were able to come out and post a fast time, despite running for the first time together as a team," said Dyke, who is very confident his athletes are going to have a good Penn Relays.

With only regular member Marleena Eubanks on their 4x400 metres relay team they were able to finish second to Vere Technical in the event in 3:42.61. Vere won the event with a time of 3:36.88.

Despite running some of the fastest times so far this season in the mile relay, the Vere team will be weakened somewhat at the Penn Relays as top athlete Shericka Jackson will not be able to compete. Like last year, Jackson will fall outside of the years of eligibility.

Edwin Allen athletes also dominated the 800 metres and the throws at the meet.
