Rastafarian pleads to assault

Rastafarian Kurt Wiggan pleaded guilty with explanation when he was brought before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday, charged with assaulting a female.

The court was told that on March 14, Wiggan punched the complainant in the head causing her pain.

But according to the accused, he was provoked.

"I went to her to find out why she cream out mi daughter hair, she push me and mi push her back, Your Honour," he said.

The child in question is 13 years old. Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey berated the complainant stating "The man is a Rastaman, yuh kyah do sumn like that weh ago stress him out without consulting him, is his daughter."

Wiggan was fined $5,000 or six months behind bars. His fingerprints were also taken.
