The Clarendon police have taken two men into custody in connection with the killing of a farmer, whose body was found on Friday.

Paul Brown, otherwise called Danny or Peck, 55, of Main Ridge district, Pennants and Cabbage Hill district, Cumberland in Clarendon, was found with chop wounds. Police said Brown was killed between 5 p.m. on Thursday when he was last seen, and 7 a.m. on Friday when his body was found at Cabbage Hill.

Information received is that Brown left Pennants for Cabbage Hill on Thursday. His body was later discovered by another farmer en route to his farm. Police said the body had chop wounds to the head and bruises all over. The body was removed to the morgue for post-mortem.

Police said a trail of blood was seen leading to a hut where clothing and shoes belonging to Brown were burnt.

A search of the hut turned up a machete, pieces of clothing and shoes all stained with blood. Investigations revealed that the machete and the apparel belonged to the two suspects who were then taken into custody.

The suspects' names are being withheld pending further investigations. Up to late yesterday, they have not been charged.
