They may have been in a relationship for eight years, but singer Ishawna says she was completely blown away when her boyfriend Foota Hype proposed to her at an event he was hosting recently.

The special occasion unfolded when Ishawna attended Foota Hype's party at which he was celebrating 12 years in the music business as a selector. For most of the night she said she was "bigging him up with money pull-ups. Then he said he wanted to big me up."

She continued, "I didn't expect it at all. He just came out of nowhere and asked me to come up to the stage. I was in total shock, it was in front of everybody. I felt happy and I just started crying."

Having celebrated eight years together just over a week ago, she said marriage was something she always had in mind.

"I am so in love with him, so when he did that it was such an awesome feeling that I couldn't help but to cry. I have always seen marriage in my future, so I am just happy that he wants the same thing," she told THE STAR.

While a date has not yet been set for the wedding, Ishawna says she is already planning for the big day.

"My mom will be planning the wedding. I want it to be my dream fairy-tale wedding. I want it to be done right. I haven't set a date but I know it will be soon," she said.

With the recent release of the music video for her song Murderer and another song Teeny Tiny doing relatively well, Ishawna said she does not foresee her upcoming marriage having any negative implications on her career and fan base.

"Me and Foota's relationship has been very public for years. A lot of people been expecting it (marriage) and I still have a lot of male fans. Why would it stop anything? People always want what they can't have," she said, laughing.

"My artiste life is different from my personal life. I am with someone who is very supportive of my career, so it is just smooth sailing from here. I just want everybody to continue supporting the movement."
