Jamaican held with marijuana at airport |

Antiguan law enforcement officials have held a Jamaican national entering Antigua with marijuana at the airport on Sunday night, and up to Wednesday the accused had been undergoing interrogation, THE WEEKEND STAR has learnt.Information reaching our news desk is that a 43-year-old Jamaican, whose name has been withheld, was allegedly caught with nearly 13 pounds of marijuana at the Vere Bird International Airport. According to the www.antiguaobserver.com, police said that up to Wednesday morning, he was being questioned and had not been charged. THE WEEKEND STAR gathered that the suspect faces charges of possession, intent to transfer, importation and drug trafficking. The value of the drug has not yet been released. Meanwhile, reports are that this latest incident marked the third time in under a month that police and customs officials have nabbed a visitor with drugs at the Vere Bird International Airport. |
