I am a Jamaican man but I lived in England for many years. Now I have come back to Jamaica to check things out, but I can't stay. Things are too rough here and I have a health condition. My wife is still in England and she is not planning to come back. My children are not Jamaican. They were all born in England. I came home to test the waters, but I am leaving.

Everybody thinks that when you live in England and you come home, you have lots of money. I go to the pub and the girls swarm me and say I talk nice. One of them even robbed me. I could never let my wife know how that happened. I learnt my lesson. She seemed to be such a nice girl, but she is a devil. She robbed me of over £100 in one week. I did not know that she sells. When I found out it was too late. Every time she called me she said she was hungry and there was no food in the house. I had to run for my life and change my number.

This is not the Jamaica I knew. There was a time when Jamaica did not have so many prostitutes but now they are all over the place. They know how to get money from men. What is your answer to what is happening in Jamaica today?

Dear F.J.,

Prostitution has always been practised in Jamaica. It is nothing new. You came back and prostitutes are looking for people who are willing to spend money on them. You left England and came to Jamaica to check out the conditions here and to see whether you would like to retire in your homeland.

You did not give your age but I suspect that you are in your 60s or 70s. You went drinking and I supposed you became fresh with a woman and she took you on. Even if she was the one who approached you, you could have said no. She was smart enough to get your money. You said she robbed you but I know better. She probably gave you some hot stuff and got a £100 out of you. It could have been worst. Prostitutes don't work for free. If you had sex with her, I hope that you used a condom. A £100 is roughly $15,000.

Now you know that whenever you come back to Jamaica you should be more careful with yourself and your money. Go back to England in peace. I hope you have learnt a valuable lesson on this visit.
