Last year's Red Stripe Premier League runners-up Boys' Town missed out on a glorious opportunity to close the gap on the league leaders after squandering a lead to suffer a 2-1 home defeat to Tivoli Gardens in the west Kingston Derby yesterday at Collie Smith Drive.

The Red Brigade's loss was compounded by the fact that the winning goal was scored by their former player, Rafiek Thomas, in the first minute of stoppage time. Tivoli's other goal came courtesy of Andre McFarlane in the 27th minute.

Marvin Morgan Jr netted his third goal of the season in the fifth minute to give Boys' Town the lead.

Tivoli's first win over Boys' Town in their last five league meetings moved them up to sixth on 42 points, while the Red Brigade remained third with 45.

League leaders Harbour View extended their unbeaten streak to 13 games after playing to their second consecutive nil-all draw, with the latest coming against defending champions Portmore United at Ferdie Neita Park.

Harbour View ended the game with 10 men after Kimarley Brissett committed his second bookable offence in the 86th minute.

The Stars of the East sit atop the 12-team standing on 60 points, with Portmore United 12 points adrift on 48.

Cellar dwellers Savannah's woes deepened as they suffered their 19th loss of the season after being clipped 1-0 by Sporting Central Academy at Brancourt. Gregory Lewis netted the game's lone goal in the 78th minute.

Savannah have amassed a mere 18 points from 29 games, while Sporting lie eighth with 36 points.

Second-from-bottom Highgate United continue to put up a commendable fight in an attempt to miraculously avoid the drop for a second consecutive season after beating Humble Lion 2-0 at the Drax Hall Sports Complex.

Carlos Barrett (21st) scored from the penalty spot, with Shamair Stewart getting the second goal in the 81st minute.

The win has taken Highgate (28) to within five points of the Lions, who sit 10th on 33 points.

The Drewsland Stadium will be the venue for a double-header tonight featuring sixth-place Montego Bay United (40) opposing ninth-place Cavalier (36) at 5:30. Fourth-place Waterhouse (44) will entertain fifth- place Arnett Gardens (42) at 9:15.
