Two held in connection with illegal firearm

The police have arrested two people in connection with the seizure of two firearms, and 27 rounds of ammunition on Suthermere Avenue, Kingston 10, and at a house in Greater Portmore, St Catherine, yesterday.

The names of those detained are being withheld pending further investigations.

Police reports are that about 6:25 a.m., while carrying out a spot check in the Half-Way Tree area, the driver of a Honda Fit motor vehicle was signalled to stop.

The driver complied and he and a female passenger were both searched, resulting in the seizure of a 9mm Browning pistol with 14 rounds of ammunition.

A warrant was garnered and further checks of the female's home in Greater Portmore led to the seizure of a another firearm, an Intratec sub-machine gun with a magazine containing 13 rounds.
