Mek mi just say big up to all my new and existing listeners in New York and di tri-state area who log on to mi new morning show called "Mawning Link with Miss Kitty" pon Link-Up Radio. Mi naa lie di positive feedback has been encouraging and even the constructive criticism mi welcome dem cause mi no too ole fi learn and dem mek mi a betta person. Mi show a from 5 to 9 a.m. now due to daylight saving time an mi a tell unnu seh mi have a new respect fi everybady who haffi wake so early a mawning time! God a grace! Just when di sleep a sweet yuh and tings a get ripe or firm as di case may be inna di early mawning deh, mi haffi get up! But tru me seh by di sweat a yuh brow yuh shall eat bread, we jus' haffi do weh we haffi do in Jesus name! Mi naa lie mi like how di kids dem gwaan a Champs ova di weekend. When mi look and see how dem a run an a bruk record left, right and centre, mi seh all is not lost fi di country because we have some youngsters who are on the right path and a try hol' up dem head. I saw many coaches, teachers, parents and supporters beaming wid pride as dem school a win up the race dem. Mi love how champs was pretty much incident free as dem did a push di peace and love theme dis year. It must be an ongoing policy that we can compete an' still be respectful of others. Mi a go tell unnu sumting an mi no want unnu tell nobody but mi neva go champs yet enuh! When mi was at di age Miss Marjorie neva allow it cause she did fraid a di whole stampede ting an disorder and now dat mi can go mi always busy! But from dem time deh mi is a KC supporta still! Big up all other school and big up Calabar weh mi fren Skatta represent for straight! But it's time as a country we stop making so many of our talented young people seemingly go to waste. It's all well and good the male and female athletes come champs and shine and as it done we no hear nutten bout dem or see them on the world stage competing and representing for Jamaica and/or themselves. Its time we move from only seeing these potential stars shine once a year and as soon as dem pass outta ferry or from whence they came, we no hear bout dem again. Sports tourism is a big factor in the world right now and Jamaica having the leading men and women in athletics needs to capitalise on this quick and fast! We need fi have some sports clinics, exchange and training programmes and facilities where people from overseas can come and train in the home of the lengendary Usain Bolt. Our own young athletes need facilities where they can hone their skills to go out into the world and make something of themselves with their God-given talent. fighting chance Too much time mi see pickney a mash up Champs an' as dem step through stadium gate mi no hear a ting more bout dem. Everybody won't be a Bolt or Yohan Blake or a Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce or VCB, but we have to poise our children in such a way that dem at least have a fighting chance. Too much talent deh yah a waste. And mi firmly believe that if we tun up tings inna di sporting arena there is much elevation to be enjoyed. Anno everybody a go be lawyer, doctor or nurse or teacher and everybody does not need to be, so we haffi start investing in alternative areas where people can strive and provide. Mi like when youngsters a do well because dat mean one less gun- man, tief or rapist and one less possible problem child and burden to di society. Mi like how di pickney dem represent last weekend and big up to all who particpated and even if unnu neva win a medal unnu a all winners for just trying! Mek mi jus also invite di whole a unnu to mi birthday bash inna Fiction Nightclub tomorrow! Di vibes a go tun up as usual so just come out and celebrate wid mi! Admission a only $1000 and di party start 11 p.m. sharp. Fiction is over Marketplace, 67 Constant Spring Road - di same place Usain Bolt restaurant deh! Lalalalalalalalalalala! Mi love unnu an a look forward fi see unnu a mi party! talkditings5@yahoo.com |
