Edwin Allen's Shellece Clark will be making her Class Three debut at this year's staging of the Boys and Girls Championships, and she is hoping that the move up in class will bring her faster times, but pretty much the same results from last year.

The 14-year-old, who will be competing at Champs for the third year, will face the starter in the 100m, 200m and as part of her school's Class Three 4x100m team.

"I am 100 per cent confident that I can medal in all my events," Clark said. "Preparations have been going great; I have been working hard and putting out my best efforts."

Clark last year won the Class Four 100m finals in 11.96 seconds, while placing third in the Class Four 70m hurdles (11.22) and helped her team to gold in the Class Four 4x100m in a new record time of 47.48 seconds.

Her personal best (PB) in the 100m is the 11.96 seconds, which she ran to win at Champs last year; while her PB in the 200m stands at 24.19 seconds, done in winning at Carifta trials two weeks ago.

"I want to improve on my PBs; I want to run 23.90 (seconds) in the 200m and 11.8 or 11.7 (seconds) in the 100m," Clark revealed.

Clark pointed out that preparing for the championship, has at times proven challenging, but through commitment and discipline she has been able to pull through.

"It can be difficult at times, but I try to maintain a high level of discipline and do what I have to do," Clark shared. "I am highly motivated by my family to just do my best in whatever I am doing.

"I also look up to my teammates Monique Spencer and Saqukine Cameron; seeing them putting out their best efforts makes me want to be like them or better when I am older."
