Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) president Dru Bahadur says Dr Julian Hunte and Dave Cameron are both capable of leading the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), and, as such, his executive should find it difficult in determining who it supports for president at the WICB's next annual general meeting. The GCB, one of six territorial boards, who will cast two votes each for a new president on March 27, is set to have its regular monthly executive meeting over the course of the next two weeks, during which the pivotal decision will be taken. "I have met and spoken to Mr Cameron and he seems more than capable of being president," Bahadur told STAR Sports. "He seems to have a genuine understanding of the issues, and what is generally required to help take West Indies cricket to another level. "However, at the same time, I don't think anyone can question the capability of Mr Hunte. "He has been there before and over the years has been at the forefront of several initiatives, which has led to a growth in the regional game," he added. Bahadur assessment of Hunte and Cameron, who has been president and vice-president, respectively, for the past six years, comes a day after former West Indies fast bowler Andy Roberts told STAR Sports that he did not think either was suitable for the job. "My view is that none of the two will make a difference to our cricket," said Roberts, who is also disgusted at the refusal of the territorial boards to accept former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd for the post. The GCB, who had originally backed Lloyd, along with the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) are the only territorial boards who are yet to indicate, who they are likely to support for president. The Barbados Cricket Association and the Leeward Islands Cricket Association both nominated Hunte, and his vice-presidential running mate, former West Indies fast-bowler Joel Garner, for the position. The Jamaica Cricket Association and the Windward Islands Cricket Board of Control, in the meanwhile, have both thrown their support behind financial consultant Cameron, and his vice-presidential running mate, Dominican Emmanuel Nathan. |
