Jamaican woman facing drug related charges

A Jamaican national is to face the court in Barbados today, after she was slapped with four drug-related charges after she was held at the Grantley Adams International Airport on Friday, THE STAR has learnt.

Charged with possession of, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation of cannabis is 36-year-old Herphilee Brendedeen Bradford.

THE STAR gathered that the drug weighed four pounds (1.9 kilograms). According to www.barbadospolice.gov, Bradford arrived in Barbados on a flight from Jamaica on Friday, March 1 at 7:25 p.m..

According to airport officials, police interviewed her and a search of her luggage revealed a false bottom, which contained a taped package of the illegal drug.

Further reports are that Bradford appeared at the District A Magistrate's Court on March 2. However, she was remanded and the matters transferred to the District B Magistrate's Court to be heard today.
