The police say a toxicology report is showing that the former head of the Clarendon police Senior Superintendent Dathan Henry was poisoned.

SSP Henry died suddenly at the Kingston Public Hospital on May 6, after a brief illness.

It is reported that the death of the cop was due to poisoning by a mixture of chemicals usually found in rodenticides.

This result was confirmed following toxicological analysis of ante-mortem and post-mortem samples taken from the deceased.

The toxicology report has been submitted to police personnel at the Major Investigation Task Force (MIT) who has consulted with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice on the matter.

The DPP has advised that the case file and all reports be submitted to the coroner for an inquest to be conducted.

SSP Henry served the Jamaica Constabulary Force for 27 years.
