Man goes on knees, begs court mercy |

Norris Hamilton went down on bended knees and broke down in tears after he was ordered to pay the complainant close to $300,000 in damages in court yesterday. Hamilton, of a Corporate Area address, was accused of damaging the complainant's car after an alleged dispute. But the accused denied the allegations and on bended knees pleaded with Resident Magistrate (RM) Pusey to show leniency. "Mumma, I never mash up him car," he said as tears streamed down his face. Hamilton, who appeared before the court with a swollen arm, told RM Pusey that the complainant and his friends allegedly ganged and beat him on Sunday, injuring his left arm. video footage The complainant denied the allegations and told the court that he has video footage with the accused damaging his vehicle. Hamilton was subsequently ordered to repay the damages after which he broke down in tears telling the judge that he'll be able to repay the monies by the end of the year. He was offered bail in the sum of $80,000 with surety, and he is to return to court for mention on March 28. |
