Rasbert Turner, PORTMORE STAR Writer A Portmore woman who was accused of defrauding several persons of more than $500,000 was freed in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday. She is Natalee Campbell, 28-year-old phlebotomist of Reeds Pen in Braeton. When the matter came up on Thursday, it was revealed that none of the complainants were present. It was explained that there was not enough evidence to prosecute the accused woman. She was then told that she could go as she has no case to answer to. She was represented by attorney-at-law Courtney Maxwell. Campbell's appearance arose from incidents at a medical laboratory in Spanish Town. The allegations were that several persons went to do blood tests at Campbell's organisation and paid certain sums of money. It was alleged that the accused allegedly took 80 per cent of the money for herself and gave the company the rest. An audit was conducted and the irregularities unfolded. The Spanish Town police were contacted and following investigations by Detective Constable Andre Wilson, Campbell was subsequently charged with obtaining money by means of false pretence. |
