Infant mowed down by utility company bus |

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer A Portmore community has been plunged into mourning following the death of an infant yesterday. Dead is Kimberly Trottman, two years old of Lignum Vitae Way, Cedar Grove, Portmore, St Catherine. "We were told that a bus registered to a utility company was parked. The little girl walked out and the van drove off and hit down the child," a senior policeman said. When the scene was visited, a number of persons who had gathered along with relatives wept openly. "Mi granddaughter dead. I just cannot believe that after mi kiss him this morning she just dead so and mi nah go see har again," George Washington Trottman said. "She is a nice little girl. She just celebrated her birthday in February. I cannot believe this," Cynthia Trottman, the child's grandmother said. The incident occurred about 10:30 a.m. at the child's home. The driver is said to have gone to the house and was talking to someone when the infant strayed through an open gate . She was run over by the vehicle shortly after it drove off. The child was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. The Portmore police are investi-gating the matter. |
