Captain Tamar Lambert says getting the wicket of the in-form wicketkeeper Chadwick Walton will go a long way in helping Jamaica to defeat the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) in their second round West Indies Super50 clash starting at Sabina Park tomorrow. "Walton is going to be one of their key players, and the hope is to get him out as cheaply as possible," said Lambert. "He has been getting runs for them, and he is one of their most experienced players, so to get him early would pressure on them and would put us in a good a position to press for a win," he added. The 27-year-old Walton, who has represented the West Indies in two Tests and two one-day internationals, and has a regional batting average of 25.21 from 46 matches, kept wicket for Jamaica last season, and helped the team put claim to a record fifth straight hold on the title. However, with the return of Carlton Baugh Jr from West Indies duties, Walton had to return to the CCC. He has since been the CCC's most consistent batsman scoring a then record 99 not out in their opening match of the Caribbean Twenty20, which was jointly held in Trinidad and Tobago and St Lucia last month. He has since gone on to score half-centuries for the development team, the last two of which came last weekend against the Windward Islands. He made 56 in Super50 action and 88 in the regional four-day tournament. Both knocks, however, came in losing causes. The 27-year-old Walton, who has often opened the batting for the CCC, is expected to get strong support from captain Kyle Corbin, fast bowler Kevin McLean and former West Indies opener, Floyd Reifer. Meanwhile, Lambert, who is attempting to lead Jamaica to back-to-back tournament wins, says while the match should be close he believes Jamaica will have what it takes to make it two wins in as many starts. "We made a good start last week and this week we are looking to take things a bit further," said Lambert. "We are playing at home and hopefully this too will help us. As you can see we have a good blend of young and experienced players, who played big roles in opening match against Barbados. "Bonner made a good century, and Nikita Miller, Odean Brown and Andrew Richardson led the bowling attack once more," Lambert added.
