Violence in schools concerns cops |

Assistant Commissioner of Police Novelette Grant said the police are concerned about the level of violence in schools. "Just recently, police personnel went to a high school in St Catherine and found that at least 40 students are involved in gang violence. It is sad, " ACP Grant said. She said that members of the Safe Schools Programme should contact the parents to find meaningful solutions. The senior police officer said there was need for a holistic approach where the community watches over the children. Safety and Security The commissioner was speaking at the launch of the St Catherine Safety and Security Committee at the parish council office. "There is an existing need to deal with the problem of crime to bring back the island where our children can grow in peace free from predators," the ACP said. The committee has been formed to tackle criminal activities and work to bring social changes to develop communities. Chairman Norman Scott promised to work with the stakeholders for the success of the programme. |
