A policeman is now in court after it is alleged that he took a picture of a child in a sexual position, and then used it as a display picture when his phone rang.

The cop was slapped with a charge of child pornography and was remanded when he appeared in court.

The accused was placed before the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. During his appearance, it was mentioned that the accused took a picture of a 14-year-old girl in a sexual position.

It was further claimed that after taking a picture of the child, the accused began using it as a display image each time his phone rang.

According to reports, his phone was inspected by his superiors and an investigation was launched after the picture was discovered.

Statements were collected and a file sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions later ruled that the accused be charged under the Child Care and Protection Act.

The accused was remanded until next month, when the matter will again be mentioned.
