Highgate United effort to avoid getting relegated from the Red Stripe Premier League is gathering momentum, as yesterday they held on for a 3-2 win over Sporting Central Academy at Brancourt, to extend their unbeaten run to three games.

Highgate United, who have drawn their previous two league games 0-0, achieved victory on the back of a double from Carlos Barrett (16th and 37th) with Richard Allison (10th) netting their opening goal. Sporting Central's goals were scored by Jamoly Powell (52nd) and Cory Hylton (77th).

The St Mary-based club have accumulated 24 points, with 10th-place Humble Lion sitting on 27 points.

Sporting Central remain eighth with 29 points.

Harbour View maintain their 10 points lead atop the 12-team standing after getting the better of cellar dwellers Savannah 2-0, at Frome Sports Complex. Harbour View's goals were scored by Jermaine Hue (40th pen) and Andre Fagan (45th).

Both teams ended the game with 10 players, as Savannah's Linval Wilson was ejected in the 24th minute, while Hue was sent off in the 89th minute.

The Stars of the East have now progressed to 51 points, while Savannah sit on a mere 16 points.

Defending champions Portmore United kept their title hopes alive after blanking Cavalier 2-0 at Stadium East. Jamar Jackson's (39th) and Sueala McCalla's (82nd) goals gave Portmore United their first victory of the season over Cavalier.

Portmore have now amassed 41 points, while Cavalier fall to seventh with 34 points.

Waterhouse earned their first victory in six attempts after defeating Boys' Town 3-1 for the second time this season in their meeting at the Waterhouse Mini- Stadium.

Waterhouse's goals were scored by Jason Watson (8th), Weston Forrest (20th) and Jermaine Anderson (73rd) with Carlos Wright (60th) getting Boys' Town's consolation.

The win has seen Waterhouse overtake Cavalier in the standing up to sixth on 36 points. Boys' Town are fourth with 37 points.

Tivoli Gardens' woes continued, as they have now gone eight games without a win after going down 2-1 to Montego Bay United, at the Montego Bay Sports Complex. Montego Bay's goals were netted by Lesly St Fleur (36th) and Dino Williams (54th), with Andre McFarlene scoring Tivoli's goal in the 64th minute.

Tivoli are languishing in the unfamiliar position of ninth in the standing on 28 points, while Montego Bay have overtaken Arnett Gardens in third with 37 points.

Fifth-place Arnett Gardens will tonight host 10th-place Humble Lion with match time set for 9:15 p.m.
