Suspect detained for death of 14-y-o

The St Andrew South police have detained a suspect in connection with the death of 14-year-old Sheriefa Saddler who was killed and her body dumped on Lothian Avenue off Olympic Way, St Andrew, last month.

The suspect, whose name is being withheld, reportedly turned himself in to the Hunts Bay police on the weekend in the company of his lawyer.

Head of the St Andrew South police, Senior Superintendent Delroy Hewitt, confirmed the man's detention.

Saddler's body was found on January 30, after it was wrapped in a sheet and allegedly dumped by men travelling in a silver motor car.

A former Haile Selassie High School student, Saddler's body was found clad in her school uniform with a necktie fastened around her neck.

On the day in question, reports are that young Saddler left home for school but did not make it.

The police told THE STAR they are continuing their investigations.
