A St Catherine man accused of beating his parents after he attempted to steal a television set from them, has been charged by the police.

Reports are that last Monday about 7:15 a.m., the man was at home with his parents. After saying he wanted to sell the family's only television, he reportedly picked up the appliance from the living room.

He was heading for the door when his mother intervened and held onto her property. The police said she was given several blows to her body. His father went to his wife's rescue and he too was attacked and severely beaten.

A report was made to the Bridgeport Police Station. An investigation was launched resulting the man being charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
