A man who used a broomstick to assault a shopkeeper was fined $10,000, or six months' imprisonment, when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court Friday. Bryan Johnson plead guilty with explanation to assaulting the complainant with a broom. The court heard that on the day in question, Johnson went to the complainant's shop and after an argument developed, a broom was brought into play. According to the complainant, Johnson went to the shop and threw something at him. He said he went out of the shop to confront Johnson, and that was when he was assaulted with a broomstick. Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey ordered that Johnson's fingerprints be taken and a fine of $10,000, or six months, was imposed. |
