A 20-year-old bag juice vendor was remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, after it is alleged that he robbed a chain from a female complainant recently and used violence against her. Charged with robbery with violence is Andrie Myrie of a Corporate Area address. He pleaded not guilty. The court heard that on the day of the incident, Myrie allegedly grabbed a chain from the female complainant and while in the process, beat her in the head. However, the man offered a different story. He maintained his innocence and told Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey that because he happened to be walking beside the man after the incident, he was identified as the culprit and was set upon and beaten. He was later handed over to the police. He was remanded until March 27. |
