Rickey Teetz completes '1000 Block' video |

A scene from the Rickey Teetz music video. - Contributed Fast-rising dancehall-reggae recording artiste Rickey Teetz has completed the video for his popular underground hit, '1000 Block', a socially conscious single that has elevated the status of the artiste in western Jamaica to that of 'street poet'. The video was directed by acclaimed music video maestro Michael 'Biggs' Burbridge whose credits include hits of major dancehall and reggae artistes. The video will be released next week to all major cable and free-to-air television outlets. "The fans had been begging me for an official video for this song as it is 'the hustle anthem' of the West. The line: '1000 block a day house mi wah build wen mi get my pay' is known everywhere, so now the fans now get wah dem wanted," Rickey Teetz said. The Montego Bay-based singjay has built his reputation one stage show at a time on the sheer power of the 1000 Block hit, as well as a number of other singles such as Life Goes On, which spawned a video that soared to #1 on the CVM Hitlist charts last year. But it is 1000 Block which has gained the most traction in the streets. The radio-friendly song has been added to the playlist of major radio stations such as IRIE, ZIP, HITZ, Fame Fm and Linkz FM. "It start to catch fire all over Jamaica now, mi see disc jockey ah call fi request the song, and some sound man from the Caribbean and England start ask mi fi jingles so mi know say 1000 Block connect the real way," Rickey Teetz said. The song is now available on iTunes. In the meantime, Rickey Teetz is turning his attention towards cranking out new singles for the local market. He has recorded hard-hitting singles for independent record labels Inspired Music Concepts and Chase Mills Records, both of which will be released in February. "Right now, mi ah tek a natural progression with the music - no hype, just positive, well-produced music. We nah hustle the ting, we ah spend time and do it the right way," he said. |
