Standout junior high-jumper Christoff Bryan has outlined his targets for the 2013 season, with a national junior record and a medal at this summer's IAAF World Youth Championships topping the 17 year old's agenda.

Bryan, who registered a personal best 2.20m at the Milo Western Relays last season, told The Star that he is yet to get over his disappointment from last year's IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain, but is hoping to console himself with a national mark and a medal on the international stage over the coming months.

Certainly the most promising Jamaican high jumper since national record holder and Olympic silver medallist Germaine Mason, Bryan is hoping to follow in the footsteps of the Wolmer's old boy, who now represents Great Britain, determined to lay siege on his 2.27m junior mark over the coming months.

"The target is to get the national junior record so that is the big aim for me this year, and also to medal at the World Youth Championships; those are my two main goals this season," said Bryan, who is preparing to sit eight CXC subjects this year.

"I started training a little late this year because of rest and this year is also CXC year for me so I tried to get some SBA's out of the way, but everything coming on now, and I am expecting to compete soon," said Bryan, who is most likely to make his seasonal debut at the Youngster Goldsmith meet on February 2.

"I'm just not ready to jump, the coach and I made a decision, and we have a clear idea of when I will be ready," Bryan added before pointing to his biggest regret last season, the IAAF World Junior Championship, where he suffered his only loss last year.

"I was unbeaten last year until World Juniors, I was sick for the championships and I was disappointed, but now I am refocusing and going after the World Youths title this year," said Bryan. "I am confident I can do very well this season."

"I was having belly aches and wasn't feeling well at World Juniors, I was also very tired after coming from the CAC and having to leave for World Juniors the next day. I also missed a lot of training at the games, so that also led to my performance but as I said that is all behind me now," Bryan continued.

Bryan could only clear 2.10m and failed to advance beyond the first round at the World Junior Championships.
