Prisoner gets 6 months

A six-month sentence was given to a prisoner who escaped police custody recently.

Keneil Dilworth received the sentence on Friday when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court charged with escaping custody.

Dilworth pleaded guilty to the charge, and gave the court an explanation.

The accused man expressed, "Your Honour, di police dem did a beat mi pan mi finger, and tell mi fi run."

The court was told that on the day in question Dilworth, who was in custody for office breaking and larceny, ran through the station door at the New Kingston Police Post.

He was later recaptured by the police who earlier made after him.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey handed down the six-month prison sentence at hard labour.
