Uncle to know fate today

A man who admitted to hitting his niece's head into a grill will know his fate today when he returns to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

Earl Fox, who is charged for assault, was remanded on Friday for sentencing after pleading guilty.

The court was told that Fox banged the complainant's head into a grill. Fox, in explaining his actions, said: "Your Honour, I went up by her home for a car title ... she wanted money for rent, and an altercation developed."

The complainant refuted that claim saying: "Your Honour, that is far from what transpired. He is my uncle and I understand that, but he must learn not to hit females again. He hit his wife from time to time, he has hit me before, and I didn't do nothing about it."

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey, who was irked by the constant smiling by the accused, cautioned him to remove the grin from his face as this was a serious matter.

"Tell me why I should not send you to jail?", RM Pusey asked Fox. The accused responded with a smile, and he was remanded for the weekend.
