Cop to face court for larceny

A 24-year-old policeman will appear in the Lucea Resident Magistrate's Court today after he was arrested on Saturday.

Constable Jameel Shettleworth, who is attached to the Ramble Police Station, was arrested by members of the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB). He is charged with larceny.

According to reports from the Anti-corruption Branch, Constable Shettleworth was on duty when it is alleged that he went into the Exhibits Store.

The ACB said an LG cellular phone that had been entrusted to him for safe keeping to be later used as an exhibit in a matter before the courts was later discovered missing during the daily inventory at the police station.

Subsequent checks were made and the cellphone was reportedly found in his barrack room. He was detained and later charged.
