Fast-rising reggae songbird Sophia Squire has blossomed in the past two years to emerge as one of the most intense female voices in reggae today.

She is off to a rocket start since 2013 with her latest single, Love Caan Pay The Bills, featuring Rich Ras, which is generating a storm on the social network.

"The response has been incredible so far to Love Caan Pay The Bills, I don't know if it is the tough economic times or what, but people are talking about it and putting it up on Twitter and Facebook. Right now, love is great, but people need money more than ever," the soft-spoken Spanish Town native said.

She is creating a huge buzz in Europe, and there are plans to perform on a series of gigs in Germany and France in April, and a later tour of other European countries during the summer.

Squire's biggest success to date in Europe has been Ra-ta-ta-tat, which was produced by roots-reggae legend Max Romeo for his Charmers label. She said that song got favourable response in Europe, hitting the top spot on several reggae charts. Her stint with Romeo came 15 years after she made her recording debut with Spanish Town producer Kenneth Rose's Miami Vice label, doing cover songs by soul singers like Deborah Cox.

She also scored with Nature's Calling, an original number produced by Tremor Modernise and Bredroc Music, and delivered arguably the best song on the Rock and Come Eeen project, which was produced by broadcaster Dalton Leith for his Dalton Leith Music label. The single, Rock And Come Eeen, in now number 3 on a reggae chart in Portugal and peaked at number 7 on a reggae chart in France.

"My songs, Nah Fight Ova Man and Nature's Calling are the big songs for me locally. The girls dem love Nah Fight Ova Man, but Nature's Calling has a broader appeal,"she said.

She has also experienced success with other songs such as Love Like Rain, Live And Learn and Find A Way.

In 2013, she has been recording with a number of different producers including DJ Frass, Rohan 'Jah Snowcone' Fuller and Donovan Germaine's Penthouse Records labels.

"I am going all out this year, the world is going to see what I can do," she said.
