Mavado was doing quite well in the dancehall industry until his friend/entourage member Connie was shot at Bounty Killer's birthday party that was held at Quad in June 2011. Following the death, Mavado seemed to have disappeared from the local scene. Hardly performing in Jamaica and seeming to reside in the United States since being signed to DJ Khaled's label, Mavado released only two notable dancehall songs last year; Action Pack and Box A Money.
