Western Bureau: Norwood Strikers of Montego Bay played out of their skins to stop high-flying Reno in their tracks, with a telling 1-0 win in action from the Captain's Bakery and Grill Western Confed Super League to log their first triumph of the season. Orlando Beckford was the hero, netting the winner in the 37th minute. But, Reno could count themselves unlucky, having coming close on a number of occasions to open the scoring but could not convert, including a miss at point-blank range from Melvin Blair. The Manning's daCosta Cup captain failed to deal with a teasing cross from the right flank and managed only to lift the ball over the crossbar with the advancing keeper at his mercy. Norwood then made them pay on a counter-attack when Beckford fired the ball into the back of an empty net with the Reno keeper out of position. pecking order The win took Norwood to four points but keeps them down the pecking order, while Reno remain in the lead in Zone Two, clear of nearest challengers Tomorrow People, who played to a draw with Holland over at Jarrett Park. Leading striker Gregory Tape of Tomorrow People clearly had the off day in front of goal, and his teammates never looked like scoring either as Holland stood their ground in defence and even looked the more likely of the two to do so. Petersfield, meanwhile, whipped Harmony 2-0, with Romario White netting first in the 21st minute and Gavin Henry sealing the win in the 65th minute to give Petersfield their first win also. Village United are out front in Zone One followed by Catherine Hall and Wadadah, who have a superior goal difference over Harmony. Petersfield and Logwood are at the bottom of the table.
