Reggae Boy Omar Cummings will be on the move for the 2013-2014 Major League Soccer season after being traded by the Colorado Rapids to the Houston Dynamos yesterday.

The 30-year-old forward the club's second highest ever scorer, with 39 goals, was shipped out of the club in favour of veteran midfielder Nathan Sturgis and some allocation money. Since missing out on the playoffs last season for the first time since 2009, the Rapids also parted ways with the clubs record scorer Conor Casey, who left for Philidelphia. The Colorado team also acquired Edson Buddle from Los Angeles.

Since joining the Rapids in 2007, Cummings has often been a handful for defenders, with blistering pace and a fierce shot. He had a breakout year for the Rapids in 2010, scoring 14 goals as the club won the MLS league title.

However, the striker failed to find his footing last season under first-year coach Oscar Pareja, and was unable to use counter attacking pace in a slower more possession oriented system. Cummings found the back of the net only six times in 23 starts. The forward's salary, US$96,000 last season is expected to free up salary cap space for a new player.

Former Rapids player Paul Bravo, now the team's technical director was responsible for Cummings' trade.

"Everyone associated with the Rapids has enjoyed watching Omar's development here in Colorado," Rapids president Tim Hinchey told the Denver post.

"His service on the field and in the community has cemented his place in our club's history."

Cummings will join compatriot Fabian Taylor, a defender, at the MLS club.
