Sting 2012 to be 'one of the best ever'

Josef Bogdanovich, chief executive officer of Downsound Records, believes that this year's Sting 2012 show will be 'one of the best ever'.

He has shelled out millions of dollars to revitalise the ailing Sting franchise established by Isaiah Laing of Supreme Promotions.

Bogdanovich has hired Ricky Chin to handle the staging and lighting at the event, and added marquee names such as Busy Signal, Etana and Konshens to ensure that the event has great star power.

"If you look at the current Sting Flyer, you will see not only vintage artistes like John Holt and Errol Dunkley but you will see the next generation of young reggae artistes like Konshens, Romain Virgo, Chronix, Nature and don't forget female song bird Etana," he said.

He singled out world-class veterans such as Sizzla, who he believes will give a breathtaking performance that will energise the Jam world venue.

"We have Sizzla who has given so much to the people and to the country, and he will also give a performance that is out of this world. And, yes, we are celebrating Busy Signal's return and will triumph reggae to its original heights with class, style and execution. Khago will be here and will be delivering both reggae and dancehall music at its finest. And there is Tommy Lee. Come to Jam world and find out what the excitement is all about," Bogdanovich said.

He said that this partnership has provided a unique opportunity to employ new marketing tools to reach a younger, more hip and tech-savvy audience.

"It's important to know that Downsound and Supreme support the entire reggae and dancehall movements and bring substance with hype. You can already see it in the exciting cutting edge adverts showing on TV and electronic billboards. You can see it in the first Sting roadshow bus powered by Kido that displays the best in mobile sound equipment and visual display with authentic music from all the acts featured on this show," he said.

The annual Sting 2012 concert will unfold on December 26 at the Jam world Entertainment Centre in Portmore, St Catherine, and it promises an exciting night of fantastic entertainment.
