Window wiper appears in court for BlackBerry theft

A window wiper accused of stealing a BlackBerry phone was hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Charged with robbery and aggravation is Tiquan Blake, who pleaded not guilty.

Allegations are that Blake robbed the male complainant of his BlackBerry in the Corporate Area.

Blake told RM Lorna Shelly-Williams that he was innocent and washing cars was all he did in Cross Roads, St Andrew.

He said, "Your Honour, mi deh deh one day and see a police jeep pull up a mi foot and this man (the complainant) come point mi out say me rob him."

RM Shelly-Williams asked, "Have you ever been convicted of a crime?"

Blake replied, "Yea ... a woman did talk bout say mi grab her stainless chain."

The courtroom erupted in laughter before order was restored.

The court heard that Blake was released from prison on August 14, as a result of that case.

Blake was remanded until January 7 for trial.
