Christopher Thomas, STAR Writer WESTERN BUREAU: A St James woman was offered $200,000 bail in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday on ganja charges. Tashoya Cahoun, 27, from Cornwall Courts, Montego Bay, is charged with possession and dealing in ganja. She returns to court on March 28, 2013. Allegations are that on December 3, the investigating officer went with a search warrant to a house in Norwood, St James, where he saw Cahoun. The officer was allowed to search the house during which he found two barrels and three plastic bags containing 110 pounds of ganja. When questioned, Cahoun reportedly said the ganja belonged to her mother. She was subsequently arrested and charged. Cahoun's attorney Tamika Spencer made a successful bail application to Resident Magistrate Sandria Wong-Small. "Ms Cahoun works with her mother, at her mother's grocery store. She has no previous convictions, and she can find surety in a reasonable sum," said Spencer. "What was she doing in Norwood?" asked RM Wong-Small. "She visits her mother and stays there sometimes," Spencer explained. RM Wong-Small subsequently offered bail with two sureties. "You will report at the Montego Hills Police Station every Monday and Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., you will surrender your passport, and a stop order will be placed at all ports for you. You will also surrender your fingerprints to the police," the magistrate said.
