Surrendered to the Lord

GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer

At eight years old, Kadian Williams-Hepburn knew she wanted to serve the Lord as she was convinced God had a plan for her life.

"When I was eight years old, I usually cry at nights saying what if God should come, I would have no place in Heaven with Him. So one morning I got up and told my mother that I just think that I should give my life to the Lord, because I want to know that when He comes, I will be with Him; and that's why I decided to start serving Him," said Williams-Hepburn.

She said she realised that her calling was to go into the church because at the time she was not doing anything out of the way, and it was an opportune time to turn her life over to the Lord.

Williams-Hepburn, who is married to Pastor Steve Hepburn, the minister in charge of the Contrivance New Testament Church of God in Manchester, said 15 years have passed since she totally surrendered her life to God as a born-again Christian. She added that since doing so she has had no regrets.

Worship leader

She noted that God wanted her to go and show others that even young people can live for Him and serve Him well. With this in mind, Williams-Hepburn, who was first a member of the Cobbla New Testament Church of God in Manchester, said she has served as a Sunday school secretary, family training hour leader, as well as in other capacities.

Now the ladies' ministry president and praise and worship leader at the Contrivance Church, Williams-Hepburn admitted that it is a challenge to do the work of God, but added that she can do all things through Christ who strengthens her.

"I try to do what I have to do for God. I try to do my work in the best possible way, especially as the wife of a pastor. One has to be careful when you are working as a pastor's wife. You have to know how to deal with every situation and every person with whom you come in contact," she said.

Although this young woman of God has to work in the church with women who are much older than her, she explained that she tries to deal with them as if they were persons who are younger than her. The pastor's wife noted that she knows exactly how to relate to the ladies with whom she works.

Williams-Hepburn, who is the mother of one son, Mikhail, said her child has already indicated that he loves the Lord, based on his actions. She said he loves to sing and he loves to play the drum at church.

Her favourite Bible verse is "Trust in the Lord with all of thine heart, and lean not to thine own understanding; But in all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy path."

Her favourite song is "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me".
